Check the store's credibility – browse the offer, compare with other stores, read the opinions of other customers. You may also check the Terms and Conditions for information on delivery, complaints and payments.
Watch out for incoming messages on social media and e-mail. - Pay attention to the sender – the name and e-mail address may be completely different than it initially seemed. Check that the message does not contain typos and errors, e.g. in inflexion. Do not open attachments and links from unknown sources, as they may contain dangerous viruses. If there is a payment link in the message – be careful, it may be a phishing attempt.
Take a look at the payment page – first of all, the website address should be preceded by a closed padlock symbol, and the address should start with https: //, which means that the connection is encrypted and safe for the customer. The website address bar should also include the name of the bank or payment intermediary corresponding with the website content.
Secure your data – never give your logins and passwords (especially for electronic banking) to anyone. Do your best to use a safe Internet connection. Public and unsecured networks make your computer/smartphone more vulnerable to hacker attacks.
Control your expenses – set a daily limit for card payments and check the account balance, especially if you share it with another person. It is best to consult any suspicious transaction with the bank because the theft of funds from the account does not necessarily involve a sudden loss of all funds. It may involve irregular payments of relatively small amounts.
Log out – after using the website where you enter your login and password, remember to log out. For your safety, do not share your computer or phone with others, and protect access to them with a password.
